Message from the Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is an honor for me to serve as the Principal of School 19. I am here to serve you and your precious children. Time has passed so quickly since I was appointed as Principal here six years ago.

I began my teaching career in School 11 as a first grade teacher in September of 1969.

I asked to be transferred to School 25 and taught first grade there as well.

In 1973 I left Paterson to earn my Master’s Degree at Adelphi University; while there, I taught in the Garden City School District in Long Island, New York for three years.

I returned to teach in Paterson in 1975 where I taught in School 25 for one year.

I was blessed to be transferred to School 19 in 1976 where I served as a teacher in Kindergarten, grades 3, 4, and 5 for eleven glorious years. I left School 19 in 1987 to have my second child. I requested a family leave for two years. When I returned to teaching I was assigned to School 9 where I remained until I was appointed in 1993 to Vice Principal at School 21, where I remained for eleven wonderful years.

I was appointed Principal of B.U.I.L.D Academy in 2004 which later merged with School #4, where I served for eight years, which lead me to my appointment at School 19 as Principal.

The joy I feel when I walk into School 19 cannot be adequately explained. It is “My Happy Place”—a dream-come-true! This is not just a job to me; it is my passion!

I am here to serve you and your children; they will always be my first priority.

Our mission at School 19 is to increase and maximize the academic and social development of every child in our school. We must prepare your child to be successful in the institution of higher education of his/her choosing, or in his/her chosen profession.

Learning is our first priority at School 19; however, we will enjoy celebrations and “Special Days” throughout the year to motivate your child to enjoy school.

Our community is special; our school is unique. Although the building is over 100 years old, we take pride in keeping it clean, neat, and well preserved. All areas are restored and refurbished as needed.

You are always welcome to visit. Please feel free to call me. Please come to our Home School Council Meetings which are held monthly in the gymnasium.

I look forward to a wonderful future at School 19.
